Kaufman Real Estate & Consulting Launches LandBriefing, a National Land Opportunity Watchlist for Developers and Investors
New platform at www.landbriefing.com ranks U.S. metros on momentum, employer catalysts, affordability, and supply risk, giving buyers a starting point before land opportunity becomes obvious.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Kaufman Real Estate & Consulting, the advisory arm of Kaufman & Company, today announced the launch of LandBriefing (www.landbriefing.com), a research platform built to help developers, investors, and operators identify land opportunity across the United States before it shows up in the broader market.
LandBriefing tracks 14 U.S. metros using the Kaufman Opportunity Score, a 0 to 100 framework weighted across four factors: price momentum since 2021 (30%), employer and catalyst strength (25%), affordability and undervaluation relative to income and rent (25%), and supply tightness measured by permit and inventory pressure (20%). Markets are grouped into three tiers: Buy Window, Selective/Steady, and Caution/Wait, so users can quickly see where the setup favors a purchase and where near term risk outweighs the story.
Each market carries its own confidence rating, a separate measure of how solid the underlying data is rather than how attractive the opportunity looks. Users can also adjust the platform’s weighting sliders to match their own investment thesis and see the scores, charts, and notes recalculate in real time.
“LandBriefing came out of a simple problem. I wanted a working framework for where to be looking for land right now, not another static report that’s out of date by the time it lands in your inbox,” said Daniel Kaufman, founder of Kaufman & Company and head of Kaufman Real Estate & Consulting. “This is the same judgment we use to underwrite our own capital, put in front of the people doing this work every day.”
The platform launches with a public data research snapshot refreshed by hand, market pages with illustrative sample parcels and live search links into sites like Crexi, LandWatch, LoopNet, and Zillow, and a national indicators section drawing on sources including Freddie Mac, Case Shiller, and the U.S. Census Bureau. A private dashboard offers live watchlist scores and notes for a smaller group of clients and partners.
Kaufman Real Estate & Consulting says the roadmap includes moving from manual research snapshots to connected live data feeds, adding paid listings data for real time parcel information on market pages, and building automated score alerts for when a market crosses into Buy Window territory or a new catalyst shifts a metro’s ranking.
LandBriefing is built and maintained by the same team behind Kaufman Real Estate & Consulting’s advisory practice, drawing on more than 25 years of principal side real estate experience across residential communities, commercial hospitality, build to rent, workforce housing, modular construction, and data center infrastructure, and more than $2 billion in project value.
