Hong Kong healthcare summit fuels AI-driven global collaborations

The sixth Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) and the 17th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair (Medical Fair) concluded successfully in Hong Kong, facilitating over 1,000 business matching meetings and signing multiple Memoranda of Understanding. Jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), these flagship events of International Healthcare Week drew nearly 3,000 participants from 43 countries at the ASGH and over 13,000 buyers from 61 countries at the Medical Fair. The events highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with sessions such as "Intelligence at Scale: How AI is Powering Real-World Healthcare Revolution" and "Transforming Healthcare through Digital Health & AI Innovations." Key players included global leaders like Prof Ibrahim Abubakar from University College London, Jonathan Symonds, Chair of GSK, and Nobel laureate Prof Michael Levitt, who praised Hong Kong's unique healthcare data advantages. The ASGH also featured over 400 one-on-one deal-making meetings and the signing of 10 MoUs, including between HKSH Medical Group and Siemens Healthineers, establishing HKSH as Siemens Healthineers' first Photon Counting Computed Tomography Simulation Reference Site in Asia. The Medical Fair showcased innovations in MedTech, GeronTech, and Preventive Healthcare, with exhibitors like PalmX Technology Limited and Dresio Limited securing significant deals. A key MoU between HKTDC and the Hong Kong Singapore Business Association aims to support Mainland enterprises' "going global" via Hong Kong to ASEAN markets. The events underscored Hong Kong's role as a superconnector in global healthcare.

The ASGH, under the theme "Fuelling Healthcare Breakthroughs," brought together over 90 international healthcare officials, scientists, investors, and corporate leaders to discuss public health, AI breakthroughs, healthcare investment, and silver health. The GoGlobal CONNECT series workshop provided practical insights on international expansion, covering regulation, clinical trials, IP protection, and distribution. New initiatives like the "CSO Insights" session featured Dr Li Xiang from Fosun Pharma emphasizing the importance of beginning with the end in mind. The Medical Fair hosted over 50 themed forums and seminars, including "Accelerating Mental Health Innovation through AI Research and Adoption" and "The ASEAN Gateway: Navigating Regulations, Capital and Distributions from Hong Kong." The events adopted an EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, with Click2Match available until 20 May. Exhibitors reported strong interest in AI-powered solutions, with companies like Health Care & Co expecting 20% business growth. The synergy between ASGH, Medical Fair, and the Hospital Authority Convention fostered meaningful collaborations, strengthening Hong Kong's status as a global healthcare hub.
