Cordeiro Foundation Awards $19.4K to Local Nonprofits for Community Support

The Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation has awarded $19,400 in grants to five local nonprofit organizations in Southeastern Massachusetts, continuing its mission to support vital community resources since its inception in 2018. Founded by Anthony F. Cordeiro, the foundation focuses on addressing critical needs such as health services, food security, and shelter through strategic funding. This latest round of grants targets specific initiatives, including fire relief efforts at Gabriel House, food insecurity among veterans, and wellness programs for vulnerable populations, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to community upliftment.

Key recipients include the United Way of Greater Fall River and Firefighter Wives Association, each receiving $2,500 to aid victims of the Gabriel House fire with essentials like clothing, food, and mental health services. The Veterans Association of Bristol County was granted $5,000 to ensure three months of food security for over 500 veterans and their families through its Food Pantry and Harvest for Heroes programs. Additional grants went to Gnome Surf for $4,900 to support its virtual SurFit Social-Emotional Wellness Program for neurodivergent youth, and Community Connections, Inc. for $4,500 to fund a free outdoor yoga and mindfulness series promoting wellbeing in Fall River.

Funding for these awards comes from individual donations and proceeds from the foundation's annual events, such as the 20th Annual Golf Invitational sponsored by organizations including Rockland Trust, Audi Fall River, The Navicon Group, and David’s Fish Market. Executive Director Melanie Cordeiro emphasized the foundation's commitment to creating lasting change, noting the power of community in overcoming tragedies. Applications for the second round of 2025 funding are open until December 31, 2025, inviting nonprofits in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island to apply through the foundation's website.
