Voyageur Pharmaceuticals Shortlists U.S. Sites for Contrast Media Plant

Voyageur Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (TSX-V: VM) (OTC Pink: VYYRF), a Canadian developer of pharmaceutical-grade contrast media for medical imaging, is evaluating three potential U.S. locations for its integrated iodine and barium contrast drug manufacturing facility. The company is conducting a comprehensive analysis of sites in Oklahoma and Texas, focusing on proximity to iodine brine sources, logistics, infrastructure, skilled labor, and government incentives. The facility will be vertically integrated, processing iodine from Voyageur’s Oklahoma brine operations and high-purity barite from the Frances Creek project, aiming to create the first fully domestic supply chain for contrast agents. This approach is expected to reduce costs and enhance supply security for U.S. hospitals and government customers. Key evaluation criteria include access to iodine brine sources, which are expected to support over 70% of future revenue, and the strength of incentive packages offered by jurisdictions.

The shortlisted locations in Oklahoma and Texas offer strategic advantages such as proximity to Voyageur’s iodine extraction initiatives in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin, robust transportation infrastructure, and a competitive business climate. The facility will utilize Voyageur’s proprietary closed-loop Streamlined Iodine Process and will combine on-site iodine-to-API synthesis with barite upgrading and sterile injectable manufacturing. This integrated GMP campus is designed to deliver industry-leading production costs and superior sustainability. The project is expected to create 150–250 direct high-skilled jobs and generate significant economic activity. Site preparation and detailed engineering are targeted to commence in late 2026, with first production expected in Q4 2028–2029, subject to financing and regulatory approvals.
