TROOPS, Inc. Bets $12M on AI Infrastructure in Southeast Asia

TROOPS, Inc. (Nasdaq: TROO), a Hong Kong-based financial services and property group, is making a bold move into the artificial intelligence infrastructure space with a US$12 million commitment to launch a new business unit in Southeast Asia. The venture, which is being pursued through a future partnership with Bfarms365 LLC, a Texas-based company, will offer a suite of services including GPU-as-a-Service, AI inference, edge computing, decentralized compute, cloud orchestration, and other AI developer tools. The new unit is currently evaluating sites, partnerships, and assets across Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with an initial allocation of US$6 million expected by the end of 2026. This strategic expansion comes as Southeast Asia solidifies its position as a major AI hub, attracting over US$55 billion in investment in the past year alone. The region's data center capacity in Malaysia's Johor state doubled over the same period, and telecom operators like Singtel, SK Telecom, and Reliance Jio are aggressively investing in AI infrastructure. TROOPS aims to capitalize on this momentum, leveraging its existing expertise in fintech and machine learning to capture a share of the growing compute market.

Damian Thurnheer, President and CEO of TROOPS, Inc., explained the rationale behind the move: “Southeast Asia has become the place where Asia’s compute is actually being built, and the capital going in is no longer only American. Moving into this layer is a natural extension of our business, which has pioneered disruptive technologies including fintech.” The company's core portfolio includes money lending through two licensed lenders, property investment, and an online financial technology marketplace that provides API-driven credit and insurance products. For the year ended December 31, 2025, TROOPS reported a 70% revenue increase to US$17.1 million. Tommy Wing Ling Lui, CTO, added, “This new venture provides strong unity with our existing business interests. We already run machine learning inside underwriting and servicing, on infrastructure we rent.
