Taiwan-Expertise Smart Elderly Care Platform Launches in Tianjin

In a significant development for China's rapidly growing silver economy, smart elderly care enterprise Time Light Care has unveiled a proprietary management platform that integrates Taiwan's long-term care expertise with mainland China's policy support and market opportunities. Based in Tianjin, the company operates nursing homes designed as "community-embedded, small-to-medium scale, high-quality care" facilities, allowing seniors to age in familiar surroundings while staying close to family. Key innovations include millimeter-wave radar monitors for bedridden residents that track breathing, pulse, and heartbeat in real time, with automatic alerts sent to caregivers' phones in case of anomalies. Additionally, the company has introduced accessible vehicles with detachable automatic wheelchairs that go directly to the bedside, enabling "suspended seniors"—those unable to go downstairs due to lack of elevators—to leave their homes with dignity.

These efforts come as China's elderly population aged 60 and above reached 320 million by end of 2025, projected to exceed 400 million by 2035, with the silver economy expected to surpass 30 trillion yuan (about 4.41 trillion U.S. dollars). In February 2026, an executive meeting of the State Council proposed to promote the expansion and quality improvement of inclusive elderly care service supply, improving a tiered, categorized, inclusive, accessible, urban-rural covering, and sustainable elderly care service system. This policy direction aligns with Time Light Care's mission to leverage technology for dignified senior living.
