LION E-Mobility Boosts BESS Business with Key Hires

ZUG, SWITZERLAND - LION Smart Production GmbH, part of LION E-Mobility Group, is accelerating its expansion in stationary battery energy storage systems (BESS) by appointing two international experts. Winfried Wahl, an electrical engineer and veteran in PV and storage markets, becomes Head of BESS Strategy, tasked with refining strategic positioning and partnerships. Sebastian Bujnoch, with 16 years of experience in Asian manufacturing and supply chains, joins as Manager Business and Sales Development to build supplier relationships and expand the European customer base. This move underscores the strategic importance of BESS as a growth pillar for LION Smart, which aims to integrate renewable energy and stabilize power grids.

Winfried Wahl brings over 18 years of experience from roles at Hithium and LONGi, where he shaped European market entry and achieved BNEF Tier 1 listings. He also co-authored the IEA World Energy Outlook Special Report 2024 and serves on PV Magazine's jury. At LION Smart, he will develop competitive product and business models for stationary storage. Sebastian Bujnoch's expertise in industrial scaling and cross-border collaboration, particularly with Chinese suppliers, will be crucial for scaling the BESS unit. His focus includes strengthening relationships with Chinese partners and broadening the customer portfolio across Europe.
