Kit Wan Studios to Open CENTRESTAGE with Sci-Fi Fashion Show in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s annual fashion highlight, CENTRESTAGE, returns from 2 to 5 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the opening show CENTRESTAGE ELITES featuring KIT WAN STUDIOS. Led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan, the multidisciplinary studio will present a new collection that fuses sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, blurring the boundaries between collectable and wearable fashion. The show marks a homecoming for the artist, who has gained international acclaim for his avant-garde costume design and stage installations, working with global stars at events like the Grammy Awards and Eurovision. His studio’s unique “abstract reality” approach spans costume design to museum exhibits, and his creations are part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway.

CENTRESTAGE, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), is a core event of “Hong Kong Fashion Fest”. The fair reinforces Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s fashion hub, bringing together international design talent. This year’s edition will feature thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars on sustainable fashion and AI in design. Kit Wan’s studio, recognized as a “2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch” by Fashion Asia Hong Kong, will also host a sharing session during the event. The artist’s journey from knitwear design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to becoming the first fashion designer to receive Norway’s “Young Artist Award” underscores the cross-cultural impact of his work.

With a collaborative roster that includes Hong Kong superstars like Aaron Kwok and international artists like Alan Cumming, KIT WAN STUDIOS consistently pushes the boundaries of clothing, performance, and art. The solo fashion show at CENTRESTAGE ELITES is a pivotal moment for the studio, allowing Kit Wan to present a collection that is entirely his own vision. As Hong Kong promotes a “Mega Events Economy”, such shows highlight the importance of stage design and performance costumes in the cultural landscape.
