HCN Global and SHC Launch New Webinar Series on Health Equity

HCN Global is expanding its Leadership for a Culture of Health webinar series with a second installment developed in partnership with the Society for Health Communication (SHC). This new series aims to bring together health communicators, community leaders, health workers, and advocates to address structural barriers to preventive care and maternal health, focusing on how communications can help communities navigate these challenges and advocate for change. The series is part of HCN Global's broader Culture of Health / la Cultura de Salud initiative, which originally started as a multicultural, bilingual multimedia program addressing social determinants of health affecting Latino and Black communities across the United States.

Building on the first series, which focused on structural racism and its health impacts, this second phase tackles access to preventive care and maternal and reproductive health. Two webinars are scheduled: one on August 28, 2026, exploring barriers like health coverage, language access, transportation, and immigration-related concerns, and another in November 2026 on disparities in maternal health outcomes, with attention to Black and Latina mothers. Both sessions are free and open to relevant professionals and community members, and they will be recorded for on-demand access.

The partnership leverages HCN Global's expertise in culturally grounded health communications and SHC's national network. The series will be promoted through networks such as La Red Hispana, Melanin Thriving, and LatinEQUIS, which also host additional resources. HCN Global and SHC emphasize the practical application of tools and strategies, aiming to move beyond simply discussing problems to providing actionable solutions for health equity.
