DEAG Appoints Markus Breitenecker as New CEO to Drive Global Growth

DEAG Deutsche Entertainment AG is setting the course for its next phase of growth with a major leadership transition. Experienced media executive Markus Breitenecker (57) will join DEAG’s Executive Board on 1 November 2026 and simultaneously acquire a shareholding in the Company. He will succeed Detlef Kornett (63) as Chairman of the Executive Board. Kornett will leave at the end of 2026 upon expiry of his contract, following thirteen successful years on the board, during which he served as Co-CEO since 2023 and Chairman since 2024. Under his leadership, DEAG achieved record revenue of approximately EUR 490 million in financial year 2025, the highest in its corporate history.

Breitenecker brings extensive media and entertainment expertise, having served on the Executive Board of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Together with the other board members, he will focus on driving international growth and expanding DEAG’s market position across existing and new business areas. Tobias Buck, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, thanked Kornett for his significant contribution to DEAG’s international development and expressed delight in welcoming Breitenecker to lead the company along its continued growth path.
