Portugal's Golden Visa Residency Rules Unchanged After 2026 Nationality Law Reform

Portugal's Nationality Law was revised under Lei Organica n.o 1/2026, which entered into force on 19 May 2026. Applications formally submitted before the law's entry into force continue to be assessed under the prior rules. This change concerns naturalisation only and does not alter the Portuguese Golden Visa residency-by-investment programme, which retains its existing path to permanent residency and established minimum stay requirements.
