The group’s third record-breaking feat aims to raise awareness about human trafficking

After breaking the Guinness World Records for the longest marathon softball game last September and longest continuous basketball game in March, both 121 consecutive hours, Men Opposing Sex Trafficking (MOST) is once again targeting the record books by attempting to break the 51-hour mark for the world’s longest marathon kickball game at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia.

For the first time, 13 women will suit up alongside 27 men to make up the total group of 40 competitors, all of whom are volunteering their time to support the nonprofit and its mission. Showing an unwavering commitment, 25 of the 27 men playing in the game also competed in at least one of the group’s previous world record achievements.

“Breaking the record for the longest basketball game back in March allowed us to escape the elements, so while the kickball record is less than half the length, the weather will add some variables we have to prepare for – especially the heat,” said Bruce Deel, CEO and founder of MOST. “We are incredibly excited to welcome the wives of some of the men who have helped us make history in the past – it’s truly becoming a family affair in support of our cause.”

Taking place over Labor Day weekend, the game will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29 and is scheduled to conclude at noon on Sunday, Aug. 31. Players are required to stay at the field for the duration of the attempt and must eat and sleep on the field, only stepping out for five-minute bathroom breaks every two hours. The current record of 51 hours was set in 2011 by students at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio. The game lasted 474 innings and had a final score of 431-306.

“What we’ve learned in the process of breaking two world records is that when you capture people’s attention, you can also capture their hearts,” added Deel. “Ultimately, our objective is to raise awareness about the scourge of sex trafficking and provide the tools for everyday people to help stamp it out, and as we have become known for these grueling physical challenges over the last 12 months, we have seen a spike in interest and raised over $800,000 to drive our core mission.”

To be certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, the game can be played with a maximum of 26 players on each team, with ten defenders on the field at all times. MOST will have 20 players on each squad, with the teams playing in short shifts throughout the day, then alternating longer shifts overnight to allow for sleeping.

Initially focused squarely on spreading awareness when it was founded in 2022, MOST now employs two analysts tasked with locating sex trafficking activity, and an interdiction team of 11 men with military/law enforcement backgrounds that assist local authorities around the country with sting operations.

Admission to the world’s longest marathon kickball game is free and members of the public are welcome to attend at any time during the three-day event. Additionally, a live stream will be available on WeAreMost.org, with non-stop coverage for the duration of the record-breaking attempt.
