David Hann Tapped As Minnesota State Co-Chair For U.S. Term Limits

ST. PAUL, MN, September 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, U.S. Term Limits announced that former Minnesota Senate Minority Leader David Hann has agreed to serve as Minnesota State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits.

Hann brings decades of public service, legislative leadership, business experience and involvement in Minnesota government to the effort to enact congressional term limits. A former four-term Minnesota state senator and Senate Minority Leader, Hann has seen firsthand how government institutions operate and believes congressional term limits can help restore accountability and citizen leadership in Washington.

"I am honored to serve as Minnesota State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits and help advance the effort for congressional term limits," said Hann. "Public office should fundamentally be about service. Our system of government works best when elected officials remember that they are accountable to the citizens they represent."

Hann has already demonstrated his commitment to the issue by signing the U.S. Term Limits pledge supporting an amendment to term limit members of Congress. U.S. Term Limits announced his signing in March 2026.

Hann has spent much of his career in public service, business and civic leadership. A graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in religion, he also pursued graduate study at the University of Chicago Divinity School. While in college, Hann volunteered for service in the U.S. Army and later served a tour in Vietnam. After completing his education, he embarked on a long career as a senior executive with a food manufacturing and distribution company.

Hann was elected to three terms on the Eden Prairie School Board before being elected to the Minnesota State Senate, where he served four terms. During his tenure, he served on the Education, Judiciary and Finance committees and chaired the Health and Human Services Committee. In his final term, his Senate colleagues elected him Minority Leader, and he led the Republican Caucus to the majority in the 2016 election.

Following his legislative service, Hann served for three years as executive director of the Minnesota Association of Townships before resigning at the end of 2020. He was subsequently elected twice as chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party, serving in that position through the end of 2025.

Hann joins Reed Olson, who currently serves as Minnesota State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits. Minnesota lawmakers have introduced resolutions supporting an Article V convention to propose a congressional term limits amendment, including HF4305 and SF4651 during the 2026 legislative session.
