Peace Riders Help LA Hit Lowest Homicide Rate Since 1966

Los Angeles recorded 230 homicides in 2025, the city's lowest rate since 1966. Community leaders credit grassroots organizations like the Peace Riders, who have promoted peace, hope, and unity in South Central Los Angeles for 14 years. Each month, the Peace Riders—comprising motorcyclists, low-riders, car clubs, and motorcycle clubs—travel through neighborhoods to bring communities together and encourage peace. They stop to engage residents, distribute peace-focused educational materials, and strengthen connections. When violent crime strikes, they gather with grieving families, offering prayers and support, and remind them they are not alone. The rides conclude with community gatherings featuring shared meals and festivals with live entertainment, described as 'edutainment' to inspire positive choices.

Many participants have personal ties to the mission, having lost loved ones to violence.
