The Matthew Syken Scholarship for Law Students has officially opened its nationwide application period, inviting undergraduate students across the United States with aspirations of entering the legal profession to compete for a prestigious academic award. Founded by accomplished corporate and securities attorney Matthew Syken, the scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, ethical leadership, and a strong commitment to shaping the future of the American legal system. The scholarship is designed to encourage the next generation of legal professionals by supporting undergraduate students at the beginning of their academic journey. Open to students attending accredited colleges and universities throughout the United States, the scholarship reflects Matthew Syken's longstanding commitment to education, legal excellence, and professional development.

Applicants are invited to submit an original essay addressing a timely and meaningful legal issue affecting the United States today. The essay prompt asks applicants to discuss a current legal issue or emerging challenge within the U.S. legal system and explain how future legal professionals can contribute to meaningful solutions. Students are encouraged to share their perspectives on the role of ethics, innovation, or policy reform in advancing the future of law. Applications will be evaluated based on academic ambition, originality of thought, clarity of expression, and the ability to effectively analyze contemporary legal challenges. Eligible applicants must currently be enrolled as undergraduate students at accredited institutions within the United States and demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a legal career. The scholarship offers a one-time award of $1,000 to the selected recipient. Applications must be submitted no later than January 15, 2027, and the scholarship recipient will be announced on February 15, 2027.
