Indonesian Student Surge Positions XJTLU as Global Education Hub

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), an international joint venture between China’s Xi’an Jiaotong University and the UK’s University of Liverpool, is experiencing a surge in interest from Indonesian students, positioning the institution as a strategic choice for international education. Graduates receive dual degrees: an XJTLU degree recognized by China’s Ministry of Education and a globally recognized University of Liverpool degree. Postgraduate students receive University of Liverpool degrees, and all departments offer PhD programmes. To support its international expansion, XJTLU established an official representative office in Indonesia in 2024, and expanded its recruitment team in June 2026 to enhance services and outreach. Professor Xi noted that as XJTLU celebrates its 20th anniversary, the university is preparing students for a future where they work alongside AI.
