Chisos Boot Company Unveils Rare Alligator Cowboy Boot

Chisos Boot Company, a family-owned Austin-based luxury bootmaker, is releasing a new run of its rare Anniversary Edition cowboy boot ahead of rodeo season. This small-batch boot is crafted from wild-harvested Texas alligator, making it one of the few such boots in production. The company positions itself in the top tier of the cowboy boot market, competing with bench-made heritage makers like Lucchese rather than mass-produced brands such as Ariat or Tecovas. The Anniversary Edition, retailing at $4,950, features mirror-cut royal black alligator belly, hand-tooled details of the Chisos Mountains, and a conservation-focused harvest model certified by Texan by Nature. Founder Will Roman emphasizes that regulated wild harvest incentivizes landowners to protect alligator habitats, allowing the species to flourish.

Chisos offers a range of exotic boots, starting with the Chisos No. 7 Lizard at $945, which pairs a lizard vamp with a heritage cowhide shaft. The construction of every Chisos boot is bench-made using traditional techniques: Goodyear welt, vegetable-tanned leather components, lemonwood pegs, brass nails, and a steel shank. A proprietary removable comfort insole with gel pads adds modern engineering. The boots are built to be repaired and rebuilt, with the leather interior conforming to the foot over time.

All Chisos boots are produced in a family-run workshop in Guanajuato, Mexico, where Roman learned his craft. The company, founded in 2019 and named after the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park, supports Texas land conservation with a portion of sales. The Anniversary Edition release underscores Chisos's commitment to heritage craftsmanship, exotic materials, and sustainable practices, positioning it as a leader in luxury bootmaking.
