Chinatown Creator Awards: Honoring Digital Storytellers at COYA Living

On August 27, the inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards at COYA Living drew a record-breaking crowd, celebrating the top content creators who have significantly impacted the Spring Mountain Road corridor's culture and commerce. COYA Living, a luxury apartment community at Chinatown's eastern gateway, co-hosted the event and provided the venue. The private reception brought together photographers, videographers, food personalities, digital storytellers, chefs, restaurant owners, neighborhood partners, and guests. Writer, film director, and City Cast correspondent Jason Harris emceed the evening, which honored 20 creators in five groups, mirroring their introduction in the 'This Week in Chinatown' series by ChinatownVegas.com. Honorees in attendance included @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, @wheretogovegas, @therubyontherocks, @baileyzeats, @withlove_christine, @tiny_pennguin, @giselliii93, @tiarappgyo, @antonio_loves_wings, @heydonnah, @ceslynne, @shekuni_lv, and @studiosealv, each receiving custom plaques.

The event showcased culinary talents from Chinatown's diverse restaurants. Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii, both recently recommended by the MICHELIN Guide, offered signature dishes: a smoky, wood-fired Isaan sausage with fermented green mango and a garlicky crispy prawn, respectively. Chef Steve Kestler of Aroma Latin American Cocina created a citrus-forward Chinatown Ceviche, while Chef Jimmy Li of Shanghai Taste provided an exclusive abalone and sea cucumber meatball. Double Zero Pie & Pub debuted its crispy-edged New York-style pizza, and China Mama served tangy orange chicken. Other offerings included rice dumplings from Mama's House × Durango Social Club, onigiri from O.Onigiri, and Noodlehead's famous beef rolls. For dessert, Yo, Mochi! presented crème brûlée mochi donuts, Moignet Café offered mini chiffon sandos, and Milk Bread supplied warm cheese and guava bread. The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant provided cocktails and zero-proof beverages, while Paul Ellis poured wine and champagne.

Prominent guests included rock photographer David Plastik and legendary music publicist Mitch Schneider, who praised the event for honoring creators who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map. Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com, emphasized that these creators have done more than post about restaurants; they've helped the world see why Chinatown receives 23.9 million visits annually. The awards were established to formally recognize the independent work of photographers, videographers, food voices, and community storytellers.
