CAHEC and Hollyhand Development Preserve 56 Affordable Homes in Talladega

CAHEC, a community investment organization based in Raleigh, NC, and Columbia, SC, has announced the closing of Northgate Place Apartments, a 56-unit affordable family housing community in Talladega, Alabama. The acquisition and rehabilitation project, effective July 1, 2026, aims to preserve long-term affordable housing opportunities for families earning up to 60% of Area Median Household Income (AMHI). The property, originally built in 2003, consists of seven two-story residential buildings offering one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Renovations will include new roofs, windows, doors, cabinetry, flooring, HVAC systems, and appliances, along with upgrades to the community building, new playground equipment, a covered pavilion, and improved outdoor gathering spaces. This marks CAHEC's first development partnership with Hollyhand Development, LLC.
