Bila Solar Launches U.S.-Made Solar Panels in Indiana, Boosting Clean Energy

Bila Solar, a U.S.-based solar panel manufacturer, has launched its new line of domestic content solar modules at its Indianapolis factory, marking a significant step in U.S. clean energy manufacturing. Utilizing American-made solar cells, the facility is set to become Central Indiana's largest solar panel factory, reinforcing the domestic supply chain for high-efficiency panels. Mick McDaniel, Vice President and General Manager of Bila Solar, emphasized the importance of this development for the U.S. clean energy industry, highlighting the creation of good-paying jobs and the advancement of American energy independence. The factory, retrofitted from a former Eli Lilly building, is producing ultra-lightweight solar modules and 550W dual-glass conventional panels, qualifying for the 10% domestic content bonus under the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This initiative is expected to create over 75 advanced manufacturing jobs and aims to reach 300 megawatts of annual capacity, scaling up to 1 gigawatt at full buildout. The announcement comes as the U.S. solar industry experiences a surge in demand for domestically manufactured components, amidst challenges such as shifting federal policies and tariffs. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie's U.S. Solar Market Insight Q2 2025 report highlights the industry's resilience, with 8.6 gigawatts of new solar module manufacturing capacity added in the first quarter of 2025. Bila Solar's investment in Indiana exemplifies the potential of policies that support domestic manufacturing, as stated by SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper.
