$1B Renewable Energy Park to Transform Historic Remington Woods

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Michaud Law Group LLC is proud to represent the approximately $1 billion renewable energy park planned for the historic Remington Woods property in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This ambitious project will combine solar energy generation, battery energy storage, environmental conservation, and public access. The approximately 400-acre property, located along the Bridgeport-Stratford border, was formerly used by Remington Arms for ammunition manufacturing and munitions testing dating back to the Civil War and continuing through both World Wars. Now, the property is being positioned for an entirely new purpose.

Plans call for approximately 51 acres of solar panels and battery energy storage facilities as part of a broader transformation of Remington Woods into a major nature preserve. The conservation component is expected to include a natural science center, outdoor classroom, student viewing platform, and protected natural areas. Attorney Paul R. Recently, News 12 Connecticut highlighted the project and shared a tour of the property that included Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, state and local officials, and project representatives. United Illuminating has agreed to purchase electricity generated by the solar portion of the project for the next 20 years. Revenue generated by the solar and battery storage facilities is expected to help support the long-term operation of the nature preserve. Project planners estimate that the park's fund could grow to approximately $50 million over the next three decades. The solar facilities could be operational by the end of 2027, while development of the battery energy storage component is expected to continue through the end of the decade.
