Otsukimi Moon Viewing Festival Returns to Plano with 13 Food Vendors

Free Otsukimi Japanese Moon Viewing Festival in Plano on Sept 26, 2026: 13 food vendors, taiko drumming, sumo demos, and family fun at Haggard Park.

This festival matters because it offers a rare, free opportunity for North Texans to experience authentic Japanese culture and cuisine without traveling abroad. In a region as diverse as Dallas-Fort Worth, events like Otsukimi foster cross-cultural understanding and community cohesion, aligning with the Japan-America Society of DFW’s mission to build lasting person-to-person and business-to-business connections. For food lovers, the gathering showcases a wide range of Asian culinary traditions—from takoyaki and Korean BBQ to bubble tea and Dango—making global flavors accessible and affordable. The festival also supports local small businesses and food entrepreneurs, giving them a platform to reach new audiences. Additionally, by encouraging DART Red Line use, the event promotes public transit and reduces traffic congestion, making it easier for families to enjoy a safe, car-free evening. Ultimately, this celebration of the autumn moon reminds us of the beauty in seasonal change and the importance of shared community experiences.
