Spin Unveils Major Fleet Overhaul in Baltimore to Advance Safety, Accessibility, and Community Mobility Goals
Spin, a leading micromobility operator, has launched a major fleet upgrade in Baltimore, reinforcing the city’s status as a priority market for innovation, safety, and inclusive transportation access.
With more than 95% of its Baltimore fleet now composed of the new C1 model, Spin is raising the bar for shared micromobility in the U.S. In just the last month, Spin scooters in the city logged over 80,000 rides — reflecting a surge in adoption and reaffirming their role in helping residents and visitors move around sustainably.
Smart Design for Safer, Smoother Rides
Spin’s C1 scooter includes several rider-focused upgrades:
- Lower deck height and center of gravity for better balance and accessibility — especially for older adults and new riders.
- Front-mounted battery design enhances durability, reduces damage risks, and prevents misuse like wheelies or double riding.
- Built-in wireless phone charger and integrated phone holder offer safe navigation and convenience on the go.
- Upgraded telemetry and sidewalk riding detection improve real-time tracking and compliance with safety zones.
- Stronger construction and tamper-resistant IOTs make the vehicles more resilient and less prone to vandalism.
“The new fleet is built for both performance and inclusivity,” said Austin Spademan, Director of Government Partnerships at Spin. “It’s our most advanced vehicle to date — and Baltimore is one of the first cities in the nation to have full-scale access.”
Citywide Commitment to Mobility Equity
Spin’s upgrades align with Baltimore’s transportation and equity goals, including first- and last-mile connectivity, emission reduction, and improved rider experience.
“Spin’s ongoing upgrade of their fleet in Baltimore demonstrates their commitment to improving access to sustainable modes of transportation here,” said Tyler Smith, Dockless Vehicle Program Manager at the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT). “BCDOT and Spin are active partners working together toward this goal.”
