Simplicity, Style, and Staying Power: The 1965 Volkswagen Beetle in Classic White

FORT WORTH, TX, March 03, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With its unmistakable curves and honest engineering, the 1965 Volkswagen Beetle from the Ron Sturgeon Collection at the DFW Car & Toy Museum is a pristine example of the people's car at its best. Finished in crisp white and carefully preserved on showroom display, this Beetle speaks to an era when transportation was charming, reliable, and effortlessly iconic.

Powered by a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-four engine, the Beetle delivers a factory-rated 40 horsepower through a four-speed manual transaxle—true to its minimalist roots. A Solex downdraft carburetor feeds the engine, while stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. Routine service performed in March 2024 included an oil change, carburetor rebuild, and replacement of the battery, fuel pump, and fuel lines—ensuring this classic runs as reliably as it did decades ago.

The interior retains its classic simplicity, with a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a five-digit odometer reading just 47,000 miles. Like many of its era, this Beetle is less about luxury and more about connection—between driver, road, and machine.

"The beauty of the Beetle is in its purity," said Ron Sturgeon, founder of the DFW Car & Toy Museum. "It's not flashy, but it never goes out of style. This one in particular—well-kept, clean, and true to its era—represents the very heart of accessible automotive history."

Displayed alongside more than 200 rare and collectible vehicles and 3,000 vintage toys, the 1965 Volkswagen Beetle offers visitors a chance to rediscover why this humble car became one of the best-selling and most enduring models of all time.
