"I really try to understand my patients' life situations and the obstacles and challenges that each person lives with," he says.

"When I'm faced with a clinical decision, I've always asked myself whether I'd be making the same decision if this patient were one of my own two children. Using that as a guiding principle has never steered me wrong."

Dr. Li's work includes partnering with local schools and community-based organizations to deliver urgent mental health services to young people.

He is affiliated with UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, where he served for 15 years as a child and adolescent psychiatry attending physician and a volunteer clinical instructor.
