9/11 Day: America’s “Day of Doing Good;” Meal Packs Staged in 21 U.S. Cities

The 9/11 Day nonprofit has transformed the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks into the largest annual day of service in American history, now recognized under federal law. More than 30 million Americans are expected to participate in the 9/11 Day observance, engaging in acts of service, volunteerism, and remembrance. This year, over 30,000 volunteers are expected to take part in 9/11 Day’s annual signature service projects, known as “Meal Packs for 9/11 Day,” staged in 21 U.S. cities, collectively assembling more than eight million non-perishable meals for Americans at risk of hunger. 9/11 Day continues to provide students with meaningful and inspiring ways to learn not just about the 9/11 tragedy, but about the spirit of unity that arose in America in response to the attacks. The organization also supports service activities for college-age students and provides grants to outstanding organizations involved in service, remembrance, and disaster preparedness projects.
