D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS) (“D-Wave”), a leader in quantum computing systems, software, and services, has released a new suite of developer tools aimed at accelerating quantum artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) innovation. The launch includes an open-source quantum AI developer toolkit and a demo that allows developers to integrate D-Wave’s quantum processors into modern AI and ML frameworks.

As a part of D-Wave’s OceanTM software suite, the toolkit enables direct integration between D-Wave’s quantum computers and PyTorch, a production-grade ML framework widely used to build and train deep learning models. The toolkit includes a PyTorch neural network module for using a quantum computer to build and train ML models known as a restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM). Dr. Trevor Lanting, D-Wave’s chief development officer, said the offering helps meet customer demand to explore the combined potential of quantum computing and AI technologies. The company is working with a growing number of customers, including Japan Tobacco Inc., Jülich Supercomputing Centre at Forschungszentrum Jülich, and TRIUMF, Canada’s particle accelerator center, on exploratory quantum AI projects.
